Route 3: Pokemon Gyms

With the dream of being the very best, we approach a very important location: the Pokemon Gym. Don't worry! We aren't asking you to run or lift weights (however running these battles while being unprepared is something you might wish you could do). In each region, there are eight gym badges to acquire. Here in the Pokemon Gym, your main objective is to beat all required trainers and complete any puzzles before you are allowed to challenge the big boss Gym Leader. Every gym has a specialized typing. You might ask, "What gives a gym their typing?" An easy answer is that the gym revolves around its Gym Leader. If the leader's Pokemon has any of the 18 types as a theme, the gym will also follow.
